Medium Rigid Truck Licence Course
A Medium Rigid (MR) licence allows you to drive any 2 axle rigid vehicle, including a truck or bus with a GVM more than 8 tonnes and may tow a trailer of no more than 9 tonnes GVM.
You can also drive a special purpose vehicle with a GVM of less than 15 tonnes (e.g. tractor or bob-tail prime mover with a single rear axle).

Course Outline
- Pre-operational check and cabin drill
- Start, move off, shut down and secure
- Management of steering, gears, brakes and accelerator
- Create, maintain and protect crash avoidance space
- Application of road rules and directions
- Reversing and parking
- Hill stop and Hill start
- Load securing
- Final competency assessment
Medium Rigid Truck Licence Requirements
- To enrol in the Medium Rigid Licence Course, all participants must:
- Currently hold a minimum P2 Class Licence (Green P's)
- Have held a Class C licence (not including a learner’s licence) for a period of at least 12 months.
- Successfully complete a Driver Knowledge Test (DKT) for the MR Licence Course at any RMS Branch
Course Duration
- The Medium Rigid Licence Course is performed as a 1-Day Course. Throughout this course, each student will receive:
- A minimum of 6 Hours of 1-on-1 Training
- Breaks for Morning Tea & Lunch
- A Final Competency Assessment (FCA)
